A davit is used to secure the blind flange
and keep it from falling, especially in heavyweights
more than 25 kg. The blind flange has two handles for
opening purposes (Fig. 16.45). The davit is integrated into
the blind flange from one side and bolted with two nuts.
The davit base is generally a permanent structural fixture
on the roof of the building. It serves as the primary
anchor point that provides support to the mast, arm,
and suspended platform that hooks over the
edge of the building.
